DailyProse#47|The one

The day feels as if it is coming to an end yet dusk is taking it’s time to make an appearance as we drive on the windy road looking for the one. Although we are vigilant like a hawk scanning the landscape, we are far from being the predator in the forest. Against charismatic hills and tall, magnificent trees, we are just insignificant visitors with a quest, to find the right tree with the right story to photograph. But how do we know which tree is the one?

Against the dark green backdrop composed of various trees that may look homogenous in a glance, this one stood out on its own, alienated. If trees subscribed to the Abrahamic faith, this one would be the antichrist, rejected from the masses. Even the eerie mist seemed unsure about getting too close to it. Standing at maybe 60m tall, we had to return the gaze of this majestic Tualang. This is the one.

Witnessing this dramatic almost sinister setting which has positioned this particular tree into a protagonist (or antagonist?) of ours, Tualang has a majestic undertone. The truth is however without such dramatic setting, Tualang is just a host. After all these years of fighting and competing with other saplings for the right amount of nutrients and sunlight to get this tall, it is the honey that people speak of.
